Our mission
We as TSK Zurich & TSK Bern would like to actively participate in environmental protection and move our company step by step towards sustainability. We have set ourselves big, green goals, which we are now working on in order to be able to shape "water sports as a sustainable leisure adventure for all". We look forward to the various challenges and keep you up to date with #TSKgogreen on our channels.
Step 1: TSK GoGreen Staff Challenge
In keeping with the motto of "cleaning our own house first," all TSK employees set themselves a GoGreen Challenge. We measured ourselves against this challenge for 30 days and also received advice from experts on sustainability in everyday life. There was a prize for the most commendable challenge and the highest stamina. In the longer term, the challenges are to become everyday habits so that together we can achieve our sustainability goal.
Our team proved itself in the following sustainability disciplines for 30 days. The following challenges were submitted in writing by our teams:
"100% Swiss: We only buy, eat and drink products that come from Switzerland. Whether at home or away from home."
"Compost: from now on we separate green waste 100% and have our own compost at home."
"I don't use chemical skin care products anymore."
"Mini Challenge is: I only travel by public transport or on foot".
"Only Local Food with purchase of vegetables, fruits, dairy products and meat from our farmers around Grüt".
"Walking up the mountain instead of taking the chairlift or gondola, that is, with fur under your skis or snowshoes."
"30 days of green waste separation is my personal goal".
"Challenge Accepted and I will eat my lunch for one month only in reusable bowls. No more ready-made lunches!"
"To de Challenge.... Hmmmm I will use only cold water in the shower for a whole month! To save energy and electricity!"
"My challenge is to grow lettuce myself, from seed to finished lettuce in a raised bed. Practically self-sufficient from the one lettuce on the plate".
„I will collect rubbish every time I’m walking outside."
"Use reuseable makeup removal pads and solid shampoo, to save waste. Furthermore, delete all old mails completely to free up server space (to save electricity)."
„The Weekly bread rolls for the TSK team I will put in a cloth bag or basket that I bring with me, instead of in the paper bags."
„I will try to trash less food and fight my expiration date fobie."
„I will not buy any PET bottles for this month (this is something that will be very hard for me to digest)".
"Regarding TSK Go Green, my challenge is to heat my home only with wood and solar energy."
"I use exclusively the search engine Ecosia and not Google..... i google (er "ecosiae") a lot, so i plant a lot of trees!"
"No more "to go waste." That means no pet bottles, coffee cups, packaged snacks, napkins, canned beer, etc."
„My challenge is not to use disposable beakers for coffee."
Step 2: TSK GoGreen Staff Challenge – Champions
30 days later: We succeeded in the Challenge! We definitely achieved our goal of having everyone deal with their own personal sustainability, think about it and try to change small but important things in everyday life! There was almost no coffee break or lunch where we didn't talk about our challenges on the side! It was about how difficult it is to change the habits you have. And about how it's also fun when you realize where you can save waste everywhere and that picking up trash on your way to work gives you a feeling of "doing something good". That way, you can enjoy your coffee much better right away. And in the meantime, for example in the TSK Zurich, we only search the web with Ecosia and you hardly see any disposable coffee cups anymore ;) so small steps are already becoming habits.
Of course we have chosen a TSK Zurich winner on day X, namely our dear Chiara, who actually didn't use hot water at home for 30 days (even when showering)! As well as at TSK Bern our Annik, who didn't buy a single pet bottle. **Applause at this point**
Both girls won a ZeroWaste Shop voucher!
And while we're on the subject; our dear friend Tara, who you can meet at the ZeroWaste Shop «Foifi» in Zurich, also advised us this month about her and our product range and helped us to take a new look at things. This has led us directly to our next sustainability project in our TSK Go Green mission.
Step 3: TSK GoGreen – Travel Kits
Our next step is in the field of diving travel. For us divers, travel is an important part of our passion for the underwater world. While we promote tourism and support the local economy at our travel destinations, our conscience regarding our footprint on the planet still accompanies us on these trips.
We believe that "No More Travel" is not the solution. Did you know that all TSK Reisen will be CO2 compensated?
In addition, we work with local dive centers and suppliers of the travel destinations worldwide. But of course this is only a small step.
Our next step is to put together a sustainable travel set for you and us. This should contribute to the fact that on the one hand we carry as much as possible no more garbage in our travel destinations and on the other hand that our travel products, whether for the Necessaire or the travel everyday life, are as sustainable as possible and do not unnecessarily pollute the environment by their harmful ingredients. Because alternatives to regular shampoo have been around for a long time...
